Dear Internets,
Ever since another student in my comedy class pointed out how much I said "um" when I was doing stand-up, I've noticed how much I say it. Internets - I say it all the time! The worst was Wednesday evening at our first dance lesson:
"What's your name?"
"Um, Jane."
"Do you have any dance experience?"
"Um, not really."
Seriously, this "um" business has got to stop. Maybe I should start an "um" jar (like a swear jar, except for when I say "um"). It's madness!
Love,
Um... Jane

Um, I'm the same way.
P.S. I think you mean it's got to stop. Not start. :)
Um, I still think you're um, awesome.
Um, it's like a good filler or uh, something. :) The worst part is the beginning when you realize how much you say it. The boy now says "like" all the time bc I'm the only native English speaker around and he has picked it up as part of how native speakers speak. Um.... talk about embarrassing!
haha. Its funny how we don't notice the things we say until it is pointed out to us.
I have a friend who says "like" all the time and I noticed that when I'm talking to her, I also say "like" all the time: eg a true sentence from her "Like, yesterday was a very bad day and like everybody seems to have like had a bad day."
You'd probably end up paying so much into that jar you could pay for your...um...whole wedding. ;)
